A proposed park trail commonwealth place to beaver lake park
It has been long proposed that a 3m wide, gravel screenings trail be constructed from Commonwealth Place to Beaver Lake Park. This will avoid the dangerous and unpleasant situation where participants at Commonwealth Place (runners, seniors walkers, stroller parents, youth bicycling) are obliged to depart Commonwealth Place via Normandy and Pipeline Roads. These roads are narrow, without sidewalks, with onstreet parking, with dangerous limitations for drivers' vision (on Pipeline), and with volume of sometimes speeding traffic.
However, Parks owns a right-of-way from Commonwealth to Beaver Lake. Construction of a proper multi-use parks trail would avoid the hazards on Normandy and Pipeline while encouraging more healthy activity at Commonwealth Place.
Below is a sketched route map for the trail.
