Friendship of the Aery Faery Tangent meets
(a) each Saturday morning at Crumsbys Schoolhouse Cafe, 4525 W Saanich Rd and
(b) for occasional "RON" evenings when we may show a film followed by roundtable discussion.
Or we do whatever else Friends of AFT wish to do. Although there is no overarching goal, participants tend to be motivated "doers". By meeting, talking with one another, and "doing" projects with one another we build stronger, connected, resilient community.

An evening meeting at the schoolhouse cafe discussing future community gardens.
Saturday morning get-togethers are drop-ins for whoever turns up. Usually we range from 3 or 4 up to 10 or so participants. Early birds arrive at 8:30; later birds by 9. We tend to dissipate by about 10 when the cafe can become busy and noisy. Saturday discussions range over any topics anyone wishes to mention. Topics may be local to the Royal Oak region in Saanich (civic concerns like bike lanes, community gardens, etc). Topics can be on larger scale (BC, Canada, or Earth's future). We tend to discuss real actions we can really take.
Evening programs are organized around a theme, sometimes with a film. Our evenings are called "RON"s ("Royal Oak Neighbours", imagining cousins of "TED"s). We sometimes plan RONs at Saturday morning coffee, or people may suggest ideas by emailing [email protected] or click on blog "What are your ideas?" (see left column)
Upcoming events may include a RON evening concerning alternative investing and a potluck picnic in the Beaver Lake Park.
